In the first half of 2017, China's leather industry showed a warming trend, and the growth rate of sales revenue increased by 0.5 percentage points; In the same period, profit changed from negative to positive, with a year-on-year increase of 6.8%; In particular, the export of China's leather main industry increased by 8.2% year-on-year, an obvious increase. The industry said that intelligent manufacturing is boosting the upgrading of China's leather industry.

China Leather Association stressed that for the Chinese leather industry, which is in the adjustment period, it is urgent to grasp the development trend of the industry, move forward with the trend, transform and enhance the traditional kinetic energy, develop new kinetic energy, and cultivate new economic growth points. In recent years, the pace of transformation and upgrading of the leather industry has accelerated, the supply capacity of high-end products has been significantly improved, the scientific and technological innovation capacity has been significantly enhanced, green manufacturing has been vigorously developed, sales channels have diversified breakthroughs, and international development has been deeply promoted. China's leather industry has made brilliant achievements and great contributions, but it also faces some new challenges: First, international competition has intensified, Vietnam, India and other countries have obvious low-cost advantages, which poses a threat to China's leather product exports; Second, the rise of trade protectionism and the intensification of the anti-globalization trend have adversely affected the expansion of the international market of the leather industry; Third, the pressure on environmental protection is increasing, the national environmental protection regulations are becoming more and more perfect, the environmental protection supervision and law enforcement is very strict, and the environmental protection facilities and environmental protection investment in the leather industry are put forward higher requirements; Fourth, labor costs are rising, raw material prices are rising, financing is difficult and expensive, and the operating pressure on leather enterprises is still increasing.

In this context, the 2017 China International Leather Exhibition hosted by the China Leather Association will be held from August 30 to September 1, when exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions will attend the exhibition to jointly explore the new dynamics of intelligent manufacturing in the leather industry and the possibility of future development cooperation. The transformation and upgrading of China's leather industry has brought a new round of business opportunities for leather, shoe materials, machinery and other supporting industries, for which the exhibition will launch the latest production solutions, and "ecological leather" will also showcase novel processes and cutting-edge technologies, thus promoting the innovative development of the leather industry.
